Ashoka saplings planted to mark World Environment Day

NAHARLAGUN :  To mark World Environment Day, the Bharat Scouts and Guides Arunachal Pradesh organised an Ashoka tree plantation drive at its State Headquarters in Polo Colony here on Friday.

The programme, originally scheduled for June 5, was postponed due to the bandh in the Itanagar Capital Region and was subsequently held on June 13.

Conducted under the guidance of State Training Commissioner (Guides) Kempi Pakam, the plantation drive witnessed the participation of members of the State Scout and Guide Fellowship, Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers.

Ashoka saplings were planted within the headquarters premises to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective responsibility towards nature conservation.

Speaking on the occasion, Kempi Pakam emphasised the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a greener future for coming generations.

The organisation also expressed gratitude to the Forest Department, Naharlagun, for providing the saplings and supporting the initiative.

The programme concluded with participants pledging to continue promoting environmental conservation through plantation drives and community service activities.
