Lungla MLA reviews sports development, inspects indoor sports hall at Moyu

LUNGLA : Lungla MLA Tsering Lhamu on Thursday reviewed sports activities and infrastructure in Lungla Sub-Division at a meeting held in the conference hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The meeting was attended by Lungla Additional Deputy Commissioner Tashi Dondup, Tawang In-charge District Sports Officer Sangey Tsering, and representatives of the Lungla Sports Club, Lungla Sports Association and Environment Protection Society, Lungla.

Reviewing the status of sports development in the sub-division, the MLA underscored the importance of promoting sports among the youth and called for collective efforts to create greater opportunities for aspiring athletes.

The participants also discussed a calendar of sporting events and activities aimed at encouraging grassroots participation and identifying local talent.

Addressing the gathering, Dondup urged sports associations and clubs to work in close coordination for the overall development of sports in the region. He said effective planning and collaborative efforts would help strengthen the sporting ecosystem across the sub-division.

Providing inputs on the management of sports facilities, Tsering briefed the meeting on the operational guidelines for the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex, including its maintenance, utilisation and long-term sustainability. He also shared recommendations for the systematic conduct of sporting events and tournaments.

Following the meeting, the MLA, accompanied by officials and representatives of various sports bodies, inspected the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall at Moyu. The visit focused on assessing the facility’s readiness and exploring measures to maximise its utilisation for athletes and the local community.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to strengthen sports infrastructure, improve coordination among sports organisations and foster a vibrant sporting culture across Lungla Sub-Division. (DIPR)
