Wangsu stresses PDS reforms, better public service delivery

ITANAGAR : Arunachal Pradesh minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Friday directed officials to strengthen the public distribution system (PDS), address manpower shortages and improve public service delivery, while assuring that promotion-related concerns of departmental officers would be examined.

Chairing a review meeting of the department here, the food and civil supplies minister asked officials to prepare a fresh proposal for recruiting additional staff, including computer operators, to strengthen the department’s workforce, according to an official statement.

Stressing that the department directly impacts the daily lives of people, the minister appreciated officers for ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and efficiently managing foodgrain storage facilities despite various challenges.

He also urged them to study successful models adopted by other states and implement suitable best practices in Arunachal Pradesh.

Emphasising transparency and efficient implementation of welfare schemes, Wangsu called for greater public awareness and instructed officers not to keep files pending.

He reaffirmed his support for departmental officers and urged them to continue serving the people with dedication and sincerity.

The day-long meeting reviewed the department’s performance, district-level achievements, operational challenges and future action plans.

Food and civil supplies secretary Kanto Danggen urged district officers to document and share successful initiatives so that best practices could be replicated across the state.

He also stressed close coordination with district administrations for effective implementation of government schemes and timely resolution of public grievances, the statement added. (Source: PTI)
