DIRANG : Under the aegis of the Sela Brigade, the Indian Army on Tuesday organised a flag-off ceremony at Sapper, Dirang, for 25 students from border villages of West Kameng district who have secured admission to Woods Park Sainik School, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.

The students from Jung and Dirang successfully cleared the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE)-2026 after receiving sustained coaching, mentoring and guidance from the Indian Army under its outreach initiatives.

The ceremony was attended by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr. Dilip Kumar, Commander 46 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Rahul Mishra, Dirang Additional Deputy Commissioner Choiki Dondup, panchayat leaders, gaon burahs and parents of the selected students.

Congratulating the students and their parents, Dr. Kumar lauded the efforts of the 46 Infantry Brigade in identifying, mentoring and preparing the students for the entrance examination, besides facilitating their admission to the Sainik School.

He said such initiatives create meaningful educational opportunities for students from remote border areas while contributing significantly to their overall development and future prospects.

The success of the students has brought pride to their families and communities and is expected to inspire more young aspirants across the region. The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to nurturing talent, expanding educational opportunities and promoting the holistic development of youth in Arunachal Pradesh’s border areas.

The Army said such initiatives also strengthen civil-military relations while contributing to nation-building through education and youth empowerment.
