KOYU : A relief-cum-assessment team led by Koyu Assistant Commissioner Dr Marngam Kakki undertook a challenging foot march to reach the cut-off village of Tabiripo under Koyu Circle on July 20 last to assess the impact of the June 28 cloudburst and deliver relief materials to affected residents.

The team included Zilla Parishad Member Nyachi Koyu, Public Works Department Assistant Engineer Jumnya Basar and other officials.

Tabiripo was among the worst-affected villages, with road connectivity severely disrupted following the cloudburst, leaving it accessible only on foot. During the visit, the team interacted with villagers, reviewed the status of essential services and carried out a rapid assessment of damage to public infrastructure and wet rice cultivation (WRC) fields.

In collaboration with the district administration and the Ramle Banggo Welfare Society (RBWS), the team distributed essential ration supplies and emergency medicines to 25 affected households. With support from the Art of Living Foundation, Bengaluru, 25 solar lamps were also provided to families to help them cope with the ongoing power disruption.

The team observed that villagers had temporarily restored their drinking water supply through traditional methods to meet immediate needs. Restoration of electricity is currently underway with the active participation of the local community, while the Public Works Department inspected damaged road stretches and reviewed ongoing restoration work to restore connectivity at the earliest.

The team assured residents of the district administration’s continued support until normalcy is restored. Appreciating the resilience and cooperation of the villagers, the administration reiterated its commitment to restoring essential services, infrastructure and livelihoods in the affected area at the earliest.
