LIKABALI : The District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) on Friday reviewed the progress of major ongoing developmental projects in Lower Siang district during its monthly meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall here.
The meeting was chaired by Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner Gobi Nyicyor in the presence of Zilla Parishad Chairperson Pakmo Koyu, Zilla Parishad Members Nyachi Koyu and Seren Mikir Doye, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Planning and Development Officer Mokar Riba, District Planning Officer Henge Riba, Circle Officer Seren Peyom Jini and representatives of various engineering and line departments.
Heads of works and line departments made PowerPoint presentations outlining the status of major projects under their respective departments, covering the scope of work, sanctioned cost, year of commencement, financial and physical progress, and the present stage of implementation.
Representatives of the engineering departments also apprised the committee of challenges being faced in executing various projects across the district.
Reviewing the progress, DC Nyicyor stressed the need for timely completion, quality execution and effective monitoring of all developmental works. He directed the departments concerned to resolve bottlenecks promptly so that the benefits of government schemes and infrastructure projects reach the people without delay.
The DC also emphasised that the momentum of developmental works should not be allowed to slow down under any circumstances. He said issues arising from government or private structures obstructing project execution should be resolved through negotiation by committees headed by administrative officers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Planning and Development Officer Mokar Riba appreciated the efforts of the Power, Public Health Engineering, Public Works and other departments in restoring electricity, road connectivity, drinking water supply and government infrastructure in Koyu following the recent flood-related damage.
He also suggested that future infrastructure projects should give greater consideration to river behaviour, flood vulnerability and safe site selection to minimise damage to public assets during natural calamities.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to inter-departmental coordination, regular monitoring and the timely completion of developmental projects to accelerate the overall growth and welfare of Lower Siang district. (DIPR)
