The North Eastern Council (NEC) on Friday said it has completed development projects worth Rs 82.41 crore in Arunachal Pradesh in July and August this year.
It has also released nearly Rs 15 crore for ongoing work related to connectivity, education, agriculture and preservation of indigenous languages.
The completed projects were taken up under the Scheme of NEC (SoNEC) and North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), covering healthcare, education, rural infrastructure, horticulture and road connectivity across several districts of the state, an official statement said here.
Among the major completed projects is the Rs 14.38-crore upgradation of the 40-bed district hospital at Likabali in Lower Siang district. The upgraded facility includes a maternity ward, an operation theatre, emergency and diagnostic equipment and a blood bank.
The NEC also completed hostels for boys and girls at Roing in Dibang Valley district, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 5.17 crore.
Community infrastructure works were completed in the Hunli-Desali block of Lower Dibang Valley district at Rs 4.74 crore and the Taliha block in Upper Subansiri at Rs 4.95 crore.
In Tirap district, the Tissa viewpoint near Tissa camp was developed at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore to boost the area’s tourism potential.
In the agriculture sector, a 200-hectare bamboo plantation across jhum and fallow lands in the Hikam and Muro areas of Tadin village in West Siang was completed at a cost of Rs 2.19 crore. The project is aimed at promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities as an alternative to shifting cultivation, the statement added.
The NEC also implemented orange and cardamom plantation projects at Keojoring and Rava villages in Nacho circle at a cost of Rs 1.98 crore.
Under NESIDS-Roads scheme, two major corridors worth a total of Rs 39.29 crore were completed, including a 7.2-km-long double-lane road connecting Pokriana with adjoining villages, benefiting 16,185 people.
Research projects linked to Arunachal Pradesh included studies by Rajiv Gandhi University on the vibrant villages programme and emerging AI technologies in biomechanics and drones. (Source: PTI)
