The Department of Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, celebrated Teachers’ Day 2026 on Saturday by conferring the State Teachers’ Awards on 40 teachers from across the state in recognition of their dedicated service, commitment to education and contribution to nurturing generations of learners.
The State Teachers’ Award 2026 ceremony was held at the DK Auditorium of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly here and was attended by Urban Affairs and Land Management Minister Balo Raja as chief guest, along with Education Minister PD Sona and other dignitaries.
The ceremony commenced with a Guard of Honour and the National Anthem presented by students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), followed by felicitation of the dignitaries, ceremonial lamp lighting and a floral tribute to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in India.
The highlight of the programme was the presentation of the State Teachers’ Awards to 40 educators selected from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The awards recognised their commitment, years of service and valuable contribution to the teaching profession and the development of students.
Among the awardees was Damodar Dwivedi, Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) at Government Higher Secondary School, Kharsang in Changlang district. Other awardees from the district included Ongla Umbon, Primary Teacher (PRT), PM SHRI GSS Gidding, and P. Ajaya Kumar, Principal, VKV Jairampur.
Addressing the gathering, Education Minister PD Sona appreciated the teaching fraternity for its dedication and invaluable contribution to the state’s education system. He said teachers remained at the heart of meaningful educational transformation, with their patience, knowledge and commitment helping shape not only academically successful students but also responsible and confident citizens.
Sona congratulated all 40 awardees and expressed hope that their commitment would continue to inspire fellow teachers and contribute to strengthening the future of education in Arunachal Pradesh.
The programme also featured an address by the Secretary of the Education Department, followed by the presentation of the awards by the chief guest.
The celebration highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping young minds, strengthening the education system and contributing to the social and human development of the state.
