ZIRO/YACHULI, SEP 7:

The Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital (GTZGH), Ziro, in collaboration with Primary Health Centre (PHC) Yachuli and Keyi Panyor District Police, organised a voluntary blood donation and health screening camp for police personnel at PHC Yachuli.

The drive combined blood donation with preventive health checks, including haemoglobin, blood pressure, pulse rate, random blood sugar and blood-group tests.

Medical screening detected four cases of hyperglycemia, three of anemia, two of low blood pressure and one of hypertension. The affected personnel were provided medical counselling and treatment, besides being referred for follow-up care at higher medical centres where required.

The medical team was led by PHC Yachuli Medical Officer-in-Charge Dr Tana Tath, SMO (SG), along with Keyi Panyor District Medical Officer Dr B Natung.

Keyi Panyor Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra and Deputy Superintendent of Police Hage Nado played a key role in mobilising police personnel for the drive.

The camp collected 14 units of blood, comprising six units of O-positive, five units of B-positive and three units of A-positive blood.

Health officials said voluntary blood donation was essential for maintaining adequate blood stocks, particularly in remote districts, while regular health screening was important for maintaining the fitness of frontline personnel.

The organisers thanked the donors and police leadership for their participation and said similar preventive healthcare initiatives would be conducted in the region.
