KOLORIANG, SEP 9:

Roll Observer for Kurung Kumey district and Commissioner Home and Information and Public Relations (IPR) Nyali Ete reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls during his visit to the district and interacted with the District Administration, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and representatives of various political parties.

Representatives of political parties apprised the Observer of issues and concerns relating to the electoral roll revision process. Ete took note of the issues raised and stressed the need for close coordination and active participation of all stakeholders to ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate, comprehensive and inclusive.

He said the electoral roll is a fundamental component of the democratic process and every eligible citizen should have the opportunity to be duly enrolled and represented.

As part of his district tour, Ete is also visiting Nyapin, Sarli, Damin and Parsi Parlo to interact with local stakeholders and officials and gather first-hand information on the ground situation.

During the visit, Ete also reviewed the functioning of the district police and overall law-and-order preparedness. He visited the Koloriang Police Station and interacted with police officials on the functioning of the station, policing arrangements and challenges in maintaining effective law and order.

He also inspected the ongoing construction of the Women Police Station at Koloriang and reviewed the progress of the work. Ete stressed the importance of strengthening police infrastructure and ensuring that such facilities are responsive to the needs of the people, particularly women and vulnerable sections of society.

The visit forms part of the ongoing efforts to ensure effective implementation of the SIR process and strengthen coordination among the administration, political parties and other stakeholders for a transparent, inclusive and citizen-oriented electoral process in Kurung Kumey.
