ITANAGAR, SEPT 12:

The state government has agreed to fulfill the charter of demands submitted by the All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Organization (AAPYO) in connection with alleged irregularities in the construction of the NH-415 (Package-B) Naharlagun flyover project.

Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club (APC) here on Saturday, AAPYO president Kipa Kanam said the government has agreed to fulfill all the demands raised by the organisation regarding the alleged irregularities in the project.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Advisor to PWD Minister Phurpa Tsering, Chief Engineer, Highway Zone, PWD, CS Choutang, AAPYO president Kipa Kanam and issue chairman Taw Kumar.

AAPYO demanded submission of a detailed estimate of the dismantling cost of 62 piers associated with the project and immediate suspension of all payments related to the flyover pending a thorough review.

The organisation also demanded establishment of a regional office of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in Arunachal Pradesh for better monitoring and supervision of infrastructure projects in the state.

It further sought constitution of an independent one-man inquiry committee headed by a retired High Court judge to probe the alleged irregularities. The organisation insisted that the inquiry should be impartial and time-bound.

AAPYO also demanded termination and blacklisting of firms found involved in any wrongdoing in connection with the project.
