Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) interacted with the Deans and Heads of Departments of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) at its campus here on Wednesday and called upon the institute to strengthen its focus on emerging technologies, research and innovation.
Describing NERIST as a premier technical institution with a distinguished legacy and immense potential, the Governor said the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the North East have high expectations from the institute.
Emphasising that technology would shape the future, Parnaik said the rapidly changing global environment presented both opportunities and challenges. He urged the academic leadership to remain ahead of technological developments and prepare students to respond effectively to emerging technological, economic and societal demands.
“The future belongs to those who innovate, adapt and create solutions for real-world problems,” he said.
As President of the NERIST Society, the Governor said the institute should strive to produce graduates who are technologically competent, innovative and socially responsible. He encouraged students to become creators of opportunities, entrepreneurs, researchers and leaders contributing to the development of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.
He called upon the Deans and HoDs to encourage students to pursue excellence in emerging fields, particularly Artificial Intelligence, advanced technologies, research and innovation. He also stressed the need to foster curiosity, critical thinking and scientific inquiry leading to meaningful research and impactful innovations.
Referring to recent developments on the campus, the Governor underscored the importance of integrity, transparency and collective responsibility. He urged members of the NERIST fraternity to work with honesty and dedication towards the institution’s growth, saying the ultimate aim should be to take NERIST to greater heights of excellence and national relevance.
Reaffirming his support, Parnaik assured NERIST of his full commitment and assistance in strengthening the institute as a centre of technological excellence, innovation and nation-building.
NERIST Director Prof Narendranath S and In-charge Registrar Prof Sarsing Gao were also present.
