ZFM 2026: Ziro administration reviews security, logistics

ZIRO, SEP 19:

With the Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) 2026 approaching, Ziro Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme convened an emergency inter-departmental coordination meeting at the District Secretariat Building on Saturday to review security, medical, traffic and logistical arrangements for the festival.

The meeting focused on preparations for the expected arrival of state dignitaries, international diplomats and thousands of visitors. With Governor KT Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu expected to attend the festival, the district administration reviewed arrangements relating to traffic management, civil infrastructure, sanitation, emergency services and hospitality.

Perme directed the Police Department to requisition additional personnel for traffic regulation, public safety and security around the main venue and other high-density areas. PWD Executive Engineer Taru Maji, UD&H Executive Engineer Tai Sangkio and PHE&WS Executive Engineer Tung Sono were directed to ensure high-intensity lighting and standardised directional signage along major movement corridors.

The departments were also asked to maintain readiness for emergency medical services, drinking water supply and adequate accommodation facilities during the festival.

The festival period is also expected to coincide with the inauguration of major public infrastructure projects and foundation-stone laying for upcoming developmental works across Ziro Valley by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

As part of welfare initiatives, a medical camp featuring a blood donation drive and health screenings for Safai Mitras will be organised at Nyilang Grayu Government Secondary School in Tajang.

Earlier in the day, MLA Hage Appa and DC Oli Perme led a valley-wide social cleanliness drive from Pai Gate in Hapoli to Pine Groves in Old Ziro. SDO Hage Tarung, DMO Millo Kunya, officers-in-charge of Ziro and Old Ziro police stations, ITBP personnel, community-based organisations, self-help groups and student bodies participated in the drive.

The district administration said the preparations are aimed at ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for visitors while showcasing the heritage and sustainable lifestyle of the Apatani community during ZFM 2026.
