Blood donation camp held

ZIRO, SEP 26:

A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital (GTZGH) in Ziro as part of the Nationwide Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive 2026 and the ‘Seva Meri Yagdan’ initiative during the Ziro Music Festival on Saturday.

The camp was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lower Subansiri unit in collaboration with the District Administration and medical staff of GTZGH. A total of 24 people came forward to donate blood, of whom nine successfully donated after health screening. The donations comprised three units of A+, one unit of B+ and five units of O+ blood.

Medical officials said 14 willing donors were deferred in accordance with prescribed health guidelines. The camp concluded without any adverse donor reaction.

BJP State President Kaling Moyong, Vice President Dungoli Libang and Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa attended the camp and interacted with donors and volunteers. They highlighted voluntary blood donation as an important civic service and appreciated the coordination among the organisers, district administration and healthcare personnel.

The Blood Centre appreciated the donors, volunteers and organising team, and said such collaborative initiatives help strengthen the district’s blood reserves while promoting community participation in healthcare.
