Guv calls for truth, self-reliance and cleanliness on Gandhi Jayanti

ITANAGAR, OCT 1:

Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) extended greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, urging them to uphold the ideals of truth, non-violence, peace and cleanliness.

In his message, the Governor said Gandhi Jayanti, observed as ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’, is an occasion to remember Gandhiji’s ideals and renew the commitment to truth, integrity, self-reliance and service to humanity.

He said Gandhiji believed that the strength of a nation lies in its people, particularly its youth, and inspired generations to work with courage, discipline and a sense of purpose for the greater good.

The Governor said Gandhiji’s message of self-reliance was particularly relevant to Arunachal Pradesh, which is endowed with natural resources, rich biodiversity, cultural diversity, fertile land, rivers, forests, horticultural produce and tourism potential.

He called upon young people to harness these resources through innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development and hard work, and contribute towards a prosperous and self-sustaining future.

Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, Parnaik emphasised the relevance of dignity of labour, sustainable living, community welfare and responsible citizenship. He said education, entrepreneurship based on local resources and individual contributions to social harmony could help build a stronger nation.

On Gandhi Jayanti, the Governor called upon the people to uphold truth and compassion, keep their surroundings clean, stand against social evils and addiction, and contribute towards building a developed, inclusive and prosperous Arunachal Pradesh.
