YUPIA, OCT 7:
The Papum Pare district administration is gearing up for the forthcoming Regional Committee Meeting on inter-state border issues between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, with a focus on reviewing progress towards resolving long-pending boundary matters.
A preparatory meeting of administrative officers and officials of the District Land Records and Settlement Office (DLRSO) and Divisional Forest Office (DFO) was held at the DC Conference Hall here under the chairmanship of 14-Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek. Papum Pare Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the status of field-level work relating to border issues involving Papum Pare and neighbouring districts of Assam. Vivek stressed the need for meticulous documentation and verification of all boundary-related matters, noting that land issues carry deep emotions and sentiments for the people and that the groundwork undertaken at this stage would have an important bearing on subsequent action.
He emphasised thorough field surveys, geo-tagging and proper documentation of disputed areas and stretches, and urged officials to undertake the exercises with due diligence and accuracy.
The MLA directed the concerned administrative officers to submit a comprehensive list of disputed areas as well as stretches where consensus has already been reached between the two sides. It was also informed that efforts would be made to facilitate the erection of boundary pillars in stretches where amicable solutions and consensus have been reached, subject to prescribed procedures and concurrence of the concerned authorities.
Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage informed the meeting that a uniform format would be circulated for submission of the status of all boundary areas to ensure consistency and comprehensive compilation of information from all concerned administrative units. (DIPR)
