Anganwadi workers honoured

ZIRO, OCT 7:

The fortnight-long ‘Angan Ki Utsav 2026–27’ campaign concluded in Lower Subansiri district on Wednesday, with six Anganwadi Workers honoured for their contribution to women and child welfare.

Organised by the Office of the Child Development Project Officer, Ziro-I ICDS Project, under the Department of Women and Child Development, the campaign was held from September 25 to October 7 as part of Rashtriya Poshan Maah.

The campaign focused on maternal and child nutrition, early childhood care and awareness of essential health services and welfare schemes. Anganwadi Workers engaged with families and communities on the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, healthy home-based nutrition, sanitation and access to schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

The initiative was implemented through coordination among Anganwadi Workers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, health and education personnel, Self-Help Groups and community members. Practical demonstrations, including preparation of nutritious recipes using locally available ingredients, were also conducted, while nutrition kits were distributed to families.

The concluding programme also recognised the contribution of frontline workers in strengthening nutrition and maternal and child care at the grassroots.

Takhe Rinyo Bullo presented Certificates of Appreciation under Poshan Abhiyaan 2026–27 to six Anganwadi Workers in recognition of their dedicated service to women and children in their respective localities.

The programme highlighted the role of Anganwadi Workers, Helpers and ASHA workers in translating nutrition and child welfare initiatives into community-level action across the district. (DIPR)
