BOLENG, OCT 9:

An awareness camp on the New Labour Codes and child labour was organised at the GREF Camp in Boleng, Siang district, on Friday to sensitise workers and other stakeholders about labour laws, workers’ rights, child labour prevention, legal remedies and social security benefits.

The sessions covered the New Labour Codes, legal provisions for preventing child labour, workers’ rights and available legal remedies, as well as insurance and social security benefits.

The resource persons included Niyang Pertin, in-charge District Labour and Employment Officer (DL&EO); Boleng Circle Officer Kali Mara; Registering Officer Kido Bagra; District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Legal Protection Officer Tani Tamut; SBI Boleng branch representative Tabok Tamin; and Siang district unit president of the Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) Martin Passar.

The camp highlighted the importance of making workers and stakeholders aware of their statutory rights, access to welfare schemes and available grievance redressal mechanisms. Informative brochures were distributed, while application forms for the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) were made available to facilitate awareness and enrolment.

An interactive session allowed participants to raise queries and seek clarification on labour welfare and the implementation of relevant legal provisions. (DIPR)
