East Siang Police holds forensic workshop for students

PASIGHAT, OCT 17:

East Siang Police organised a workshop on “Crime Scene Management and Usage of Mobile Forensic Van” at the Rashtriya Raksha University campus here on October 15 last as part of its ongoing Youth Engagement Programme.

The workshop was conducted by SDPO Pasighat Neepa Manocha, along with Pasighat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Lady Inspector Amum Panyang and Sub-inspector Kuncha Tangha.

The session aimed to familiarise students with practical aspects of crime scene management and the application of forensic science in criminal investigations.

Demonstrations covered crime scene reconstruction, collection and testing of blood samples, identification and testing of narcotic substances, and fingerprint development techniques.

The demonstrations provided students with insights into the functioning and utility of the Mobile Forensic Van for on-site forensic examination and scientific, evidence-based investigation. The session also highlighted the importance of preserving crime scenes and properly collecting and handling forensic evidence.

East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba said the police remained committed to promoting scientific investigation and strengthening youth engagement through meaningful interactions with educational institutions. He said such initiatives provide students with practical exposure to modern policing techniques and help develop scientific awareness about the role of forensic science in crime detection and administration of justice.

Under its Youth Engagement Programme, East Siang Police has so far facilitated visits by more than 1,500 students to police stations across the district. The interactions provide students with firsthand exposure to police functioning, law enforcement procedures, crime prevention and the responsibilities of police personnel.

The initiative seeks to strengthen police-student interaction, promote awareness of contemporary policing practices and build trust between young people and the police.
