NAMSAI, OCT 29:
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office Guwahati, in coordination with the Namsai district administration, launched a special Aadhaar Vahan drive in Namsai district on Wednesday to extend enrolment and updating services to residents, particularly those in remote and far-flung areas.
The initiative aims to cover the left-out population and improve Aadhaar enrolment and update coverage, including child enrolment and Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) for children and students.
Districts with relatively low enrolment and update coverage have been identified for targeted interventions to ensure more balanced coverage across Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the drive, the Aadhaar Vahan will travel across Namsai district, providing enrolment and updating facilities for residents of all age groups closer to their homes. The campaign is expected to be extended to other low-coverage districts of the state in the coming days.
The UIDAI has also urged children and students to complete their Mandatory Biometric Updates at the ages of five and 15 to maintain the accuracy of their biometric records. The updates should be completed within the prescribed age windows of 5–7 years and 15–17 years, respectively.
According to the release, failure to complete the mandatory updates within the prescribed periods may lead to deactivation of the Aadhaar number under the applicable rules.
Updated biometric information facilitates the use of Aadhaar for various services, including school admissions, entrance examination registration, scholarship benefits, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes and the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, wherever applicable. Delays in updating biometric details may cause difficulties in Aadhaar-based authentication while accessing these services.
Residents of Namsai district have been encouraged to make use of the mobile Aadhaar facilities and complete their enrolment or update requirements.
