ZIRO, OCT 30:
Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme inaugurated a two-day training programme for the Population Enumeration Phase-II of Census 2027 at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall in Ziro on Friday.
Officials and field functionaries from Lower Subansiri, Kamle and Keyi Panyor districts are participating in the training.
The programme aims to familiarise census personnel with the technical and operational requirements of digital enumeration and equip them to conduct the exercise efficiently.
In her address, Perme stressed the importance of adhering to the prescribed schedule and ensuring timely data entry for the successful conduct of the census. She urged participants to promptly report technical difficulties and logistical challenges encountered during field operations. She also welcomed and acknowledged the resource persons from the Directorate of Census Operations, Shillong, for conducting the training and extending technical support to the district administrations.
Assistant Director of Economics and Statistics Chiging Tamu highlighted the transformation of census operations through digital technology, noting that field data, progress monitoring and administrative workflows would be managed through the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal. He urged Charge Officers to actively use the portal to ensure data accuracy and effective coordination throughout the exercise.
The first day’s sessions featured interactive discussions and practical demonstrations by the visiting resource persons on Enumeration Block (EB) creation, training logistics, dashboard operations and layout mapping through the digital EB Creator. Participants were also trained in preparing Abridged House Lists and Charge Registers using the software.
The training will conclude on October 31 with further practical exercises, including trial runs and troubleshooting, to familiarise the participating officials with the digital systems ahead of the census exercise. (DIPR)
