GUWAHATI, AUG 31:
At least 33 suspected cattle smugglers were arrested and nearly 300 livestock rescued in three different operations in Assam while the animals were being transported, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday.
“Twenty-two vehicles seized, 298 mother cows freed, 33 arrested. The Assam Police operation at three locations at once has made it clear that cattle smuggling will no longer be tolerated,” he said in a social media post.
This action is a testament to the Assam government’s resolve towards cow protection and safeguarding the interests of farmers, Sarma asserted.
“Listen up, cattle smugglers — there is no place for cattle smuggling on the soil of Assam! Protecting mother cow, Assam’s resolve,” he added. (Source: PTI)
