The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), Ziro, organised the ‘NashaMukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh’ on Friday to raise awareness among youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote collective action for a drug-free society.

IGTAMSU Vice-Chancellor Prof K Satya Lakshmi and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management Anwar Hussain attended the programme along with NSS volunteers, students and members of the university community.

The programme began with ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’, marking the participants’ collective commitment towards a healthier and drug-free society.

As part of the campaign, a signature campaign was organised in which students and other participants expressed their support for the vision of a drug-free India and reaffirmed their commitment to preventing substance abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles.

NSS Programme Coordinator T Bidyananda Singh coordinated the programme and highlighted the role of youth in creating awareness about substance abuse and promoting a healthier and more responsible society.

The programme concluded with an online mass pledge, during which participants pledged to stay away from drugs and substance abuse and encourage others to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles.

The event concluded with NSS volunteers and students reaffirming their commitment to the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ movement and the vision of a healthier and Viksit Bharat.
