Talk on stress, anxiety and addiction held

BOMDILA, SEP 22:

The Bomdila Buddhist Society, in collaboration with the Mental Health and Wellness Cell of Government College Bomdila, organised a public talk for students on “Taming the Monkey Mind: Buddhist Approach to Deal with Stress, Anxiety, Phone and Drug Addiction” at the college here on Monday.

The session was delivered by Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Honorary Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamshala.

Addressing the students, Ven. Geshe Lhakdor spoke on ways of understanding and managing the mind, coping with stress and anxiety, developing positive attitudes and healthy habits, and overcoming addictions, particularly phone and drug addiction. He emphasised awareness, self-discipline and the cultivation of a balanced and positive mindset to help young people deal with various challenges.

The interactive programme also featured a question-and-answer session, during which the speaker responded to students’ queries on mental well-being, addiction and related issues.

West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar, West Kameng Superintendent of Police DW Thongon, Director, DOAKA, heads of departments, monks, teachers, students and other dignitaries attended the programme.
