DEOMALI, SEP 9:

A coordination meeting on the effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 was held at the Conference Hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Deomali on Wednesday under the chairmanship of ADC Tana Bapu.

The meeting was attended by representatives of concerned departments and other stakeholders involved in solid waste management and environmental protection in the Deomali area.

During the meeting, the Member Secretary made a PowerPoint presentation on the key provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, covering their salient features, the existing status of solid waste management, gaps and challenges, and a proposed action plan for effective implementation.

Discussions focused on strengthening coordination among stakeholders, ensuring compliance with the Rules, improving waste management practices and enhancing public awareness and community participation.

In his concluding remarks, Tana Bapu urged all concerned to ensure strict adherence to the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 and work collectively towards improving sanitation and environmental sustainability in the area.

He also called for concerted efforts to transform Deomali into a plastic-free zone, stressing responsible waste disposal, reduction in the use of single-use plastics and active community participation in keeping the area clean and environmentally sustainable. (DIPR)
