Arunachal bags two Best Performing State Awards under PMAY-U

NEW DELHI, OCT 5:

Arunachal Pradesh has received two Best Performing State Awards for its performance in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY-U 2.0 at the World Habitat Day 2026 celebrations organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at Vigyan Bhawan here on Monday.

The State was recognised for its performance in providing affordable housing to eligible urban beneficiaries under two categories.

Arunachal received the Best Performing State Award for 100 per cent timely completion of houses sanctioned under PMAY-U, recognising its performance in completing sanctioned houses within the stipulated timelines.

The State was also conferred the Best Performing State Award under PMAY-U 2.0 for achieving the second-highest performance, recognising its implementation, monitoring and progress under the new phase of the urban housing scheme.

The awards recognise the efforts of the State Government, Department of Urban Affairs, Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Urban Local Bodies, district administrations and other stakeholders involved in implementing PMAY-U.

The recognition is significant for Arunachal Pradesh, where difficult terrain, scattered settlements and geographical challenges often pose logistical and implementation constraints. Despite these challenges, the State has focused on timely execution, monitoring and beneficiary-oriented implementation of the housing scheme.

The twin awards also acknowledge the contribution of implementing agencies, field-level functionaries, Urban Local Bodies and beneficiaries towards urban housing and inclusive development in the State.

The awards were received by Director, Urban Local Bodies Hano Takka along with officers of PMAY-U Arunachal.
