ITANAGAR, AUG 16:
Along with the rest of the nation, Arunachal Pradesh celebrated the 80th Independence Day (I-Day) on Saturday with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm, with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, cultural programmes, felicitation functions and community events held across the State.
In the State capital and various districts, government institutions, educational establishments, political organisations and community groups observed I-Day by honouring the freedom fighters, celebrating national unity and reaffirming their commitment to the development of the country.
At Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar, the 80th I-Day was celebrated with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Principal Kumar Tok, followed by the National Anthem. NCC and NSS cadets, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, participated in the programme. The celebration recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and emphasised the values of patriotism, unity, discipline and responsible citizenship.
At the BJP State Headquarters in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh BJP president Kaling Moyong hoisted the National Flag in the presence of senior party leaders, office-bearers and party workers. Moyong extended I-Day greetings to the people of the State and called upon them to reaffirm their commitment to building a Viksit Bharat. He said the Tricolour continues to inspire citizens to uphold unity, integrity and patriotism and dedicate themselves to the service of the nation.
ANINI: In Dibang Valley, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign received a special touch with a Tiranga Trek from Anini to Pomo Post. The expedition was led by Dibang Valley DC Bekir Nyorak and involved members of Mountain Mavericks, officers and jawans of the 10th Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army and personnel of the 62 Battalion of the ITBP.
In a first, the National Flag was hoisted at Pomo Post at an elevation of around 3,005 metres. The team then trekked further to Pomo Lake, located at approximately 3,850 metres, where the Tricolour was again hoisted for the first time.
The Mountain Mavericks team comprised former ZPM Theko Tayu, PWD EE Binam Messar, CO Anmol Singh, DDMO Kabang Lego, ADO Duyu Udi, DACO Tobang Lego and DTO Lamwang Aran.
The expedition brought together the district administration, security forces and adventure enthusiasts, symbolising unity between the frontier guardians and the people while also highlighting Dibang Valley’s potential for adventure and responsible tourism.
PASIGHAT: Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) celebrated I-Day on its campus with Dean of Academic Affairs Prof P.C. Jena calling upon students and employees to pursue self-improvement, discipline, dedication and a sense of responsibility to contribute to the building of a Viksit Bharat.
Teaching and non-teaching staff and students participated in the celebration, which also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
The programme included prize distribution for a futsal competition among teaching staff, non-teaching staff and members of the Arunachal Pradesh University Students’ Union. The Non-Teaching Staff (Men), Non-Teaching Staff (Women) and APUSU teams emerged winners in their respective categories.
BOLENG: At Boleng in Siang district, the 80th I-Day was celebrated at the General Ground with Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Transport and Cooperation Minister Ojing Tasing as Chief Guest.
The programme began with Vande Mataram, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag, National Anthem, parade inspection and March Past. In his ceremonial address, Tasing greeted the people and stressed the importance of collective participation, inclusive development, community involvement and effective implementation of government schemes in strengthening grassroots governance.
Exhibition stalls were inaugurated and individuals were felicitated for their contributions and achievements in various fields. The programme also featured an immunisation awareness skit by the District Medical Office, Siang, cultural performances and prize distribution.
A “Say No to Drugs” football match between DC XI and Minister XI was also organised as part of the I-Day observance to promote a healthy, responsible and drug-free society.
ZIRO: In Lower Subansiri, I-Day celebrations were held at the Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium with Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa as Chief Guest. DC Oli Perme and SP Keni Bagra coordinated the district-level programme attended by public representatives, officials, students and citizens.
The formal ceremony began with Vande Mataram, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest and the National Anthem. The parade was inspected and contingents took part in the March Past.
Addressing the gathering, Appa highlighted the importance of unity, civic responsibility and continued development of the region.
The celebrations featured the unveiling of Miji Migung Yarko, followed by yoga and school band performances by students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Ziro. The administration also conferred the MLA Academic Excellence Award 2026, Ziro Gaurav Puraskar Award 2026 and Commendation Certificates on achievers and individuals for their contributions.
Traditional cultural performances, prize distribution and the evening retreat ceremony marked the conclusion of the district celebrations.
AALO: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Aalo Outdoor Stadium, where Sports and Youth Affairs, Law and Legislative Justice and SJETA Minister Kento Jini hoisted the National Flag as Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Jini paid tribute to the freedom fighters and national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. He said Arunachal Pradesh was progressing in various sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and lauded the Centre’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas”.
Highlighting developments in the sports sector, Jini said young sportspersons from the State had demonstrated their potential in various disciplines and informed the gathering about opportunities available under the sports quota in government recruitment. “Youths are our greatest strength,” he said.
Jini said several development projects had been taken up in Aalo township and adjoining areas since 2019 and were progressing towards completion. He also appealed to people to protect forests and avoid the use of plastic.
I-Day was also observed at Kamba, Yomcha and other circle headquarters of West Siang with cultural programmes, exhibition stalls, March Past and a demonstration of weapons by the Indian Army.
The Aalo programme was attended by West Siang DC Mindo Loyi, SP Kardak Riba, ZPM Nyali Bagra, Army officers, PRI members, senior citizens, officials, students and members of the public.
At Kamba, the celebration was held at the General Ground with 8B-Upper Kamba ZPM Kaba Tali as Chief Guest. ADC Ejum Angu, AC Todak Riba, 8A-Kamba ZPM Yaami Nomuk, officers, PRI members, village leaders and a large number of people attended the programme.
Tali paid tribute to freedom fighters and national leaders, including Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose, and highlighted government initiatives to strengthen educational and essential infrastructure in the 27-Liromoba (ST) Assembly constituency.
Certificates under the TB Mukt Abhiyan 2024-25 were presented to nine panchayat segments, while commendation certificates were awarded to four government officials and members of self-help groups.
In the March Past, NCC DPGC and NCC GHSS (Boys) secured the first and second positions respectively. The programme also featured patriotic and traditional dances and a Bhangra performance by personnel of the 11th Sikh Battalion. Local SHGs and PLFs displayed farm and non-farm products.
The celebrations concluded with a Tug of War competition won by the GPC team.
ROING: At Roing, MLA Mutchu Mithi hoisted the National Flag in the presence of PRI members, DC Fwwrman Brahma, SP Ringu Ngupok, officials, students and the public.
Addressing the gathering, Mithi lauded the patriotic spirit of the people and urged citizens to abide by their fundamental duties while upholding the rights of others. He highlighted ongoing development initiatives, including improvement of water supply, township roads and drains, upgradation of the General Ground, construction of a new stadium along Bypass Road, Roing, and establishment of the 6th IRBN headquarters at Bhismaknagar.
The celebration featured March Past, cultural performances by school students, exhibition stalls by government departments and SHGs, and felicitation of achievers and officials for dedicated service.
At Dambuk, MLA Puinnyo Apum hoisted the National Flag in the presence of dignitaries, students and a large gathering.
At Parbuk Sub-Divisional Headquarters, ZPC Kabang Gamno hoisted the National Flag. Addressing the gathering, Gamno paid tribute to the freedom fighters and national leaders and highlighted development activities in the sub-division, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the progress of the district and the State.
YACHULI: The 80th I-Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and colourful cultural programmes at the General Ground, Yachuli, in Keyi Panyor district on Saturday, with 16-Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung as Chief Guest.
Keyi Panyor ZPC Nabam Piju, DC Ankita Mishra, Assistant Commissioner Dr Mumne Borang, DySP Hage Nado, ZPMs, PRI leaders, ex-servicemen, Gaon Burahs and Gaon Buris, Heads of Departments, teachers, students, government officials, police personnel and members of the public attended the programme.
Tatung hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem, and inspected the parade contingents before witnessing the March Past. He also inaugurated exhibition stalls showcasing departmental activities and launched the Keyi Panyor Mission Plan 2040, an ambitious roadmap outlining 20 development priorities for the long-term transformation of the district.
In her first I-Day address in the district, DC Ankita Mishra emphasised responsive and accessible governance, urging people to approach the administration with their views, suggestions and concerns. She assured that her office would remain accessible and responsive to public needs.
Mishra also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Possa flash flood on June 24, paying tribute to the victims and acknowledging the courage and dedication of local residents, volunteers, officials and rescue teams during the disaster. She urged people to “dream big”, saying Keyi Panyor was at the beginning of a new journey and had immense potential for growth.
Addressing the gathering, Tatung paid tribute to the freedom fighters and called for collective efforts to make Keyi Panyor one of the best districts in India and South Asia. He said the Mission Plan 2040 reflected the aspirations of the people and was aimed at transforming the district into a model district.
Tatung said a new District Secretariat building was being planned and designed by Padma Bhushan awardee Rajeev Sethi. Describing the proposed Secretariat as a “temple of democracy”, he said it would serve as a centre where people’s voices could be heard, government services delivered efficiently and grievances addressed.
Highlighting sustainable agriculture, he said soil mapping was being undertaken across the district to identify suitable crops for different areas and guide farmers towards improved crop selection and higher agricultural and horticultural productivity.
The MLA also acknowledged the contributions of former MLAs and assured that unfinished development works would be pursued to completion. He thanked individuals and organisations that contributed to the MLA Relief Fund, which he said had supported rehabilitation, restoration and reconstruction following the Possa flash flood.
He also thanked the State and Central governments for their response to the disaster and acknowledged the visits of Union Ministers and CM Pema Khandu to the affected areas.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of linking the development of the North East with the development of India, Tatung said, “If Arunachal Pradesh has to develop, then Keyi Panyor has to develop.” He called for unity and concerted efforts beyond political and religious considerations to achieve the district’s development goals.
The programme featured cultural performances, academic awards for meritorious students, commendation certificates for achievers in competitive examinations and recognition of workers and volunteers involved in Possa flood relief and rescue operations. Gaon Burahs and Gaon Buris were also felicitated for their community service, while ex-servicemen were honoured for their service to the nation.
Sportspersons who won medals at State and national-level events were felicitated, while sports competitions among district administration officials were organised to promote team spirit and camaraderie.
YINGKIONG: Upper Siang district celebrated the 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm and strong public participation, with the main programme held at the General Ground, Yingkiong.
MLA-cum-Advisor to the Chief Minister Alo Libang unfurled the National Flag in the presence of DC Talo Jerang, Heads of Departments, PRI leaders, Gaon Burahs, teachers, students, police personnel, cultural groups and members of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Libang paid tribute to the freedom fighters and called upon people to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He stressed collective efforts for the development of India, Arunachal Pradesh and Upper Siang and urged citizens to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by hoisting the National Flag at their homes with respect and patriotism.
Libang and Jerang felicitated newly appointed Head Gaon Burahs and Gaon Burahs, CBSE toppers for 2025-26, best teachers and best schools and distributed commendation certificates.
Forty-two health workers from District Hospital Yingkiong, AAM SC Ramsing and AAM SC Simong were also honoured for their contribution towards achieving NQAS certification.
For maintaining TB-free status for two consecutive years, Pugging, Bomdo and Karko villages were presented Silver statues of Mahatma Gandhi along with certificates. Mossing, Janbo, Likor, Simong West-I, Simong West-II, Simong East, Padu Upper and Padu Lower received Bronze statues and certificates for maintaining TB-free status for one year.
The celebrations featured exhibition stalls, PT displays, March Past by Arunachal Pradesh Police and NCC cadets, band displays, Scouts and Guides, cultural performances and a Malakhamb display by VKV students. An awareness programme on routine immunisation for children aged 0-5 years was also organised by VHAI Yingkiong.
At Mariyang, MLA Oni Panyang unfurled the National Flag and joined the public in the celebrations. Similar ceremonies were held at various Administrative Circle headquarters across Upper Siang, with respective ZPMs unfurling the Tricolour.
PASIGHAT:
Pasighat MLA Tapi Darang called upon the people of East Siang to work collectively towards building a developed, peaceful and prosperous district, while highlighting the major development achievements of the district during the I-Day at Pasighat.
Darang said development was not the achievement of any individual or department but the outcome of collective efforts by the administration, elected representatives, government employees and the people.
Highlighting key achievements, he said 42 of the 43 Pasighat Smart City projects, worth ₹511.50 crore, have been completed, with the Sewage Treatment Plant nearing completion. He also highlighted strengthening of educational infrastructure at Jawaharlal Nehru College and Arunachal Pradesh University, improvement of school facilities and the functioning of four Girls’ Residential Schools benefiting around 300 girl students.
Darang said rural development programmes, including MGNREGA, have generated thousands of person-days of employment, while agricultural and horticultural initiatives are promoting mechanisation, irrigation, organic farming and better livelihoods. Under the AP Mushroom Development Mission, all 200 targeted beneficiaries have been covered.
On healthcare, he termed East Siang’s achievement of zero indigenous malaria cases for four consecutive years as remarkable, crediting the dedication of doctors, nurses, ASHAs and frontline health workers.
Calling for continued collective action against drugs and crimes against children, Darang said a safe and peaceful society was the foundation of sustainable development. He stressed the need to focus on better education and healthcare, improved connectivity, employment, agriculture, tourism, transparent governance and a clean, green and drug-free East Siang.
“Let development reach the last village, the last household and the last person,” he said, calling upon the people to contribute towards Viksit Arunachal and Viksit Bharat.
He concluded with a call for unity, service and a shared vision for a brighter and more prosperous East Siang.
LIKABALI: Kardo Nyigyor, Deputy Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, graced the occasion as the chief guest and took the salute of the parade contingent.
In his address, he highlighted the achievements of the government across various sectors over the past few years. He also appealed to the people to maintain peace, harmony and tranquillity, and uphold the spirit of patriotism so that the government can focus on development and deliver greater benefits to the people.
The programme began with a rendition of Vandematram and concluded with the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana, which was spontaneously joined by the assembled gathering.
The day-long celebrations featured a colourful cultural programme presented by students of various government and private schools, an exhibition, and the final match of the Independence Day Running Trophy.
Later, the Chief Guest distributed commendation certificates and prizes to the winners of various cultural and other competitions, marking the conclusion of the celebrations.
BOMDILA: The 80th I-Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Buddha Park, Bomdila Township.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC), West Kameng. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the history of India’s Independence and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the nation’s freedom fighters in securing freedom for the country.
She also encouraged the youth to remain focused on their studies and urged them to stay away from drugs and alcohol, emphasizing their role in nation-building.
The programme featured impressive parade contingents from the District Police and students of various educational institutions. Colourful cultural performances representing different tribes of the district added vibrancy to the celebration and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Various government departments participated in the event by setting up exhibition stalls to showcase their schemes, services, and products for public awareness.
The occasion also witnessed felicitation ceremonies during which commendation certificates were conferred upon deserving individuals, and winners of literary competitions were honoured for their achievements.
The celebration concluded with a Mass Vande Mataram rendition commemorating 150 years of the iconic national song, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism and national unity among the participants.

The celebration brought together students, government officials, community members and the public, reflecting the spirit of unity, pride and patriotism. Amid the majestic mountains of Dibang Valley, the Tricolour soared high as a symbol of a free and united India.
Addressing the gathering, Mihu appreciated the KVK team for its sustained efforts and contribution to the district and lauded the DDSE and teaching community for their dedicated work and encouraging results achieved during the year.
He also highlighted various development schemes, projects and proposals under implementation and consideration aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving public services and promoting the overall development of Dibang Valley.
CHONGKHAM: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called upon the people to work collectively towards building a Viksit Arunachal as an integral part of Viksit Bharat@2047 while addressing the 80th Independence Day celebration at the Chongkham Circle headquarters.
Paying tribute to freedom fighters, Armed Forces personnel, security forces and nation-builders, Mein said India’s journey over the past eight decades had been one of transformation—from struggle to strength and aspiration to confidence.
He said Arunachal Pradesh, with its strategic location, natural resources, rich indigenous heritage and young population, was not at the margins of India’s development but at the frontier of the country’s future.
Highlighting the State’s growing financial strength, Mein said Arunachal Pradesh’s GSDP had increased from ₹20,373 crore to ₹50,651 crore, while per capita income had more than doubled. State Own Resources had increased 5.61 times, GST collections 7.8 times and the State Budget from ₹12,533 crore in 2015-16 to ₹39,842 crore in 2025-26.
On connectivity, he said rural roads under PMGSY had expanded from 4,131 km to 14,926 km, while National Highways had increased from 1,043 km to 2,538 km. The annual pace of road construction, he said, had risen from around 300 km to nearly 1,800 km. He emphasised that connectivity was crucial for Arunachal Pradesh both from the perspectives of economic development and national security.
Highlighting the Vibrant Villages Programme, Mein said Phase-I had covered 105 roads spanning 1,022 km and connecting 125 villages and habitations along the Indo-Tibet border, while Phase-II was extending coverage to another 122 villages along the Indo-Myanmar and Indo-Bhutan borders.
He said the proposed Frontier Highway, with an estimated investment of around ₹55,000 crore, would further strengthen strategic connectivity. “Border villages are not the last villages of India; they are the first villages of India,” he said.
On healthcare, Mein announced that Namsai had received approval for a medical college under the Aspirational District Programme of the Government of India, to be operated in PPP mode. He said the institution would significantly strengthen healthcare facilities in the region.
He stressed that strengthening human capital remained central to the State’s development agenda, particularly through youth development, education, skills, entrepreneurship and employment. Around 156 startups, he said, had been incubated, while greater opportunities needed to be created within Arunachal Pradesh to prepare young people for national and global competition.
On agriculture, Mein said more than 1.14 lakh farmers were being supported under PM-KISAN, over 1.27 lakh Kisan Credit Cards had been issued and around 28,000 hectares had been brought under organic farming. He called for a shift towards commercial and value-added agriculture through better processing, branding and market access.
Highlighting tourism potential, he referred to Buddhist, spiritual, cultural, heritage, rainforest and adventure tourism opportunities in the region. He welcomed the announcement of the North East Buddhist Tourist Circuit in the Union Budget and said it could provide a significant boost to tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
He highlighted destinations such as Parshuram Kund, Kongmu Kham, the World War II cemetery and museum at Jairampur and the Stilwell Road-Pangsau Pass heritage corridor, besides the biodiversity of Namdapha Wildlife Sanctuary, Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Manabhum Reserve Forest.
Mein also welcomed the recognition of Glaw Lake as India’s 101st Ramsar Site and the first Ramsar site of Arunachal Pradesh, describing it as a significant milestone in the State’s conservation journey. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav for the recognition.
On hydropower, Mein said Arunachal Pradesh had an estimated potential of around 58,000 MW. With 2025-2035 declared as the Decade of Hydropower, he said the sector could generate employment, revenue and local development, while stressing the need for environmentally responsible implementation with due regard to indigenous communities.
Mein said the goal of Viksit Arunachal was to build a State that was well-connected, economically strong, socially inclusive, strategically secure, environmentally sustainable and culturally confident.
As part of the programme, a new ambulance donated by Reliance was dedicated to public service to strengthen healthcare and emergency response in the area. Mein expressed gratitude to Reliance and appreciated Chongkham ZPM Chow Molaseng Namchoom for facilitating the support.
He also participated in the Drug-Free Pledge and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. Exhibition stalls by SHGs, FPOs and departments including Agriculture and Horticulture showcased local produce, value-added products, traditional crafts and indigenous products.
Mein interacted with farmers, SHG members, FPO representatives, artisans and local entrepreneurs and appreciated their contribution to grassroots livelihoods and local enterprise. Achievers from different fields were also felicitated.
YUPIA: The 80th I-Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Mini Ground, Yupia, with Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Mamo Hage hoisting the National Flag.
The celebration was attended by dignitaries, officers, security personnel, teachers, students and members of the public. Following the flag hoisting, the National Anthem was played and students presented a ceremonial march-past.
Addressing the gathering, Hage paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs and called upon citizens to uphold constitutional values, unity and inclusiveness.
Highlighting Papum Pare’s development journey, she spoke about achievements in agriculture, healthcare, education, horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry. She said around 1,500 hectares had been brought under oil palm cultivation.
In healthcare, she highlighted NQAS certification of PHC Tarasso and the recognition of CHC Sagalee as the Best CHC in Arunachal Pradesh under Kayakalp for FY 2026.
On education, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the improvement in CBSE Class X results, which rose from 41 per cent in 2024-25 to 73 per cent in 2025-26. She urged teachers to sustain the momentum and encouraged students and youth to pursue education with dedication and contribute positively to society.
She also urged citizens, particularly the youth, to stay away from substance abuse and stressed environmental conservation, cleanliness, waste segregation and fire safety. She encouraged participation in the Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan and called for collective efforts to protect the district’s biodiversity.
The celebration featured a Taekwondo demonstration by RB Taekwondo Academy, a student parade and cultural performances by students of Girls Residential School, Yupia; BK Mission School, Midpu; and PM SHRI Government Upper Primary School, Yupia.
Commendation certificates were presented to individuals for dedicated service and commendable contributions in various fields.
The programme also featured exhibition stalls set up by government departments and self-help groups showcasing schemes, products and services.
DEOMALI:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across Tirap district, with celebrations held at Deomali, Lazu, Borduria, Dadam, Soha, Bari-Basip and other Circle headquarters.
At Deomali, ZPM Yalik Lowang hoisted the National Tricolour in the presence of ADC Deomali Tana Bapu, Assistant Commissioner Indira Thomoung Riba, SDPO, CCF, Heads of Departments, PRI members, Chiefs, Gaon Burahs, teachers, students and members of the public. The programme concluded with a volleyball match between the ADC and ZPM teams, with the ADC team emerging victorious. Awards were also presented for the Best Stall and Best Parade Contingent.
At Lazu, ZPM Lazu Adv. Najen Rangwang hoisted the National Flag in the presence of panchayat members, government officers and officials, Gaon Burahs, public leaders, schoolchildren and villagers.
At Borduria, ZPC Tirap Adv. John KK Matey hoisted the National Tricolour at the Circle Headquarters ground. Addressing the gathering, he paid tribute to the freedom fighters and remembered former leaders and social activists who contributed to the development of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.
Earlier, Matey, accompanied by CO Borduria Yowa Anya and the OC of Borduria Police Station, paid homage at the memorial of Martyr Hangpan Dada, Ashok Chakra (Posthumous).
At Dadam, ZPM Dadam Adv. Chasuam Hakhun hoisted the Tricolour at Kamlesh Joshi Outdoor Stadium. She extended Independence Day greetings and appreciated the contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu towards development. She also commended the District Administration, Police, security forces, Health Department and other government departments for their service to the people.
At Soha, ZPM Namsang Block Wanglem Thingnok attended the celebration as Chief Guest and urged the youth to become responsible citizens and stay away from anti-social activities. Patriotic songs, cultural dances, games and sports activities marked the celebration.
At Bari-Basip Circle Headquarters, Katang, All Tutsa Welfare Association chairman Tediap Hallang hoisted the National Tricolour as Chief Guest. The National Flag was also hoisted at Government Secondary School, Kolam, by ZPM Tutnu Block Nanhang Phuksa and at Government Upper Primary School, Old Tupi, by ZPM Kapu Block Wanglee Rangyang.
The Independence Day spirit also reached social care institutions, with patriotic celebrations held at Care Me Home Sudhaar Ghar, Charju, and New Light Foundation-cum-Rehabilitation Centre, Tupi.
The celebrations across Tirap reflected the district’s spirit of patriotism, national unity and collective responsibility, reaffirming the people’s commitment to peace, progress and nation-building.
TEZU: The 80th I-Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Tezu headquarters in Lohit district, with MLA Dr Mohesh Chai attending as Chief Guest.
The celebration was attended by DC Kesang Ngurup Damo, SP Thutan Jamba, former Minister Nakul Chai, ZPM Tezu Baplalum Chiba, Heads of Departments, officials, students and members of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Chai highlighted various development initiatives of the Central and State governments and the progress witnessed in Lohit district in recent years.
He particularly highlighted improvements in road infrastructure, healthcare and hospital services, connectivity and other key sectors, saying these initiatives had contributed to improved public services and accessibility across the district.
The MLA also announced financial support for local youth preparing for competitive examinations. He said ₹2 lakh would be provided to candidates who clear the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and ₹50,000 to those who clear the APPSC Preliminary Examination. Assistance would also be extended to aspirants preparing for various APSSB examinations.
The celebration reaffirmed the spirit of patriotism, unity and collective commitment towards the continued development of Lohit district and nation-building.
