Authorities stress designated parking to ease traffic congestion in Ziro

ZIRO : The Lower Subansiri district administration on Friday convened a high-level coordination meeting to review traffic management and strengthen road safety measures across the district.

The meeting, chaired by Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, brought together district officials and representatives of various transport unions to deliberate on measures aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving road discipline.

A key focus of the meeting was the creation and use of designated parking facilities to address traffic bottlenecks and prevent road accidents.

Officials directed that commercial heavy vehicles, including dumpers and tractors, should use designated parking areas instead of parking along highways, which has contributed to accidents and traffic disruptions.

Lower Subansiri Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra called for a solution-oriented approach to traffic management. While appreciating the personnel managing the local tempo stand for maintaining orderly operations, he noted that traffic volume in the valley is expected to increase further.

The SP urged traffic personnel and transport operators to ensure smooth traffic flow while maintaining a tourist-friendly environment. He also cautioned against any form of harassment of visiting tourists.

The meeting was attended by District Transport Officer Remar Gab, District Information and Public Relations Officer Tenzing T., executive members of the All Lower Subansiri Dumper Tippers Truck Welfare Association, representatives of tempo associations and members of local civil society organisations.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the District Transport Officer, who reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to ensuring safe, efficient and orderly transportation across Ziro and the rest of Lower Subansiri district. (DIPR)
