Cabinet approves key reforms in education, healthcare and women’s welfare

ITANAGAR, OCT 11:

The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved a series of measures to strengthen technical education, improve healthcare services, expand assistance for women in distress and streamline institutional arrangements across the State.

Among the key decisions, the Cabinet approved uniform recruitment rules for 12 categories of posts in government engineering and polytechnic colleges in accordance with the applicable All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) regulations of 2019.

The approved rules cover the posts of Principal in government engineering and polytechnic colleges; Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in government engineering colleges; Workshop Superintendent, Assistant Librarian, Laboratory Assistant, Senior Technical Assistant and System Analyst in government engineering colleges; and Head of Department (Civil Engineering) in government polytechnic colleges.

The rules are intended to establish a transparent, merit-based and uniform recruitment mechanism in line with the relevant AICTE diploma and degree regulations.

In a move to strengthen support for women facing distress and emergencies, the Cabinet approved the creation of 20 posts for operationalising the Women Helpline-181 scheme under Mission Shakti guidelines.

Women Helpline-181 is a toll-free, round-the-clock service designed to provide emergency assistance to women in distress and connect them with services such as medical care, shelter, legal aid, emotional support and guidance.

The Cabinet also approved the renaming of Government College, Seppa, in East Kameng district, as Donglo Sonam Government College, Wessang, in recognition of the late Donglo Sonam’s contribution to the development of East Kameng district and Arunachal Pradesh.

Two educational institutions in Daporijo will also be renamed. The Cabinet approved naming Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo, as Lt. Punji Mara Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo, and Government Model Degree College, Daporijo, as Popak Bage Government Model Degree College, Reempu Yorlo.

In the healthcare sector, the Cabinet approved enhancement of grade pay for various categories of posts under the National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

The decision aims to address concerns relating to wage parity and fairness, improve staff morale and productivity, and strengthen patient care and rehabilitation services.

The Cabinet also approved the creation of five posts of Food Safety Officer, Group B, Gazetted Non-Ministerial, to address manpower shortages in the State’s food-law enforcement machinery. The additional personnel are expected to strengthen food-safety monitoring and enforcement and help protect public health.

The decisions form part of the State government’s efforts to improve institutional capacity, strengthen public services and enhance the delivery of welfare and healthcare support.
