YACHULI, NOV 5: Keyi Panyor District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday commenced a three-day community volunteers’training programme at Tajgi village under Param Putu circle. The initiative is being organised under the directive of the Department of Disaster Management, Government of Arunachal Pradesh to strengthen local disaster preparedness and response capacities. The programme aims to build a cadre of 100 trained community volunteers from the most vulnerable villages across the district. These volunteers will serve as a frontline support force to the district administration during disaster emergencies and play a vital role in promoting community safety, awareness and resilience at the grassroots level. The present training batch consists of participants from Param Putu circle. Subsequent training programmes will be conducted at Deed from November 10-12 and at Yazali from November 13-15. A key highlight of the programme is the involvement of seven trained community volunteers, who previously underwent specialised training with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and have now been designated as instructors. In addition, two personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Regional Response Centre (RRC), Ziro are serving as resource persons to provide technical and practical guidance to the trainees. During the training, volunteers will undergo sessions on basic disaster management concepts, community-based first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR, search and rescue techniques, fire safety, forest fire response, rope-based rescue, and disaster-specific safety protocols including earthquakes, landslides, floods and lightning. Speaking on the occasion, the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) expressed gratitude to all resource organisations and emphasised the importance of empowered local communities in disaster response. The DDMO stated that trained volunteers are the first responders in any emergency situation and their preparedness can significantly reduce the impact of disasters and save lives. PASIGHAT, NOV 5: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) will be hosting the Police Technology Summit-2025 scheduled on November 8 at its Pasighat campus here. The Summit will spotlight cutting-edge technologies for SMART Policing – from AI-driven policing and OSINT to drone/anti-drone systems, predictive policing, cybercrime mitigation, digital investigations, smart surveillance, and the modernization of police operations. Organised by RRU with the support of AIC-RRU Incubation Foundation (AIM, NITI Aayog), Police Technology Summit-2025 will convene police and CAPF leadership, state and district police units, policy makers, start-ups, researchers, and solution providers to accelerate technology adoption for internal security. Some key themes that will be covered during the summit are: AI for policing; open-source intelligence; counter-drone & tactical comms; cybercrime investigation & SOC readiness; digital forensics; smart surveillance & field mobility; tech-enabled training and simulations. Live demos of India-made innovations aligned to policing needs, including secure communications, agentic AI, cyber ranges, VR/AR/MR training tools, blockchain forensics, quantum-safe security, and environmental/field sensorswill also be demonstrated during the summit. Use-case sessions will include practical deployments for beat officers, investigators, traffic and crowd management units, anti-human trafficking cells, cyber police stations, and disaster/HADR coordination. A curated line-up of emerging and established providers will present deployable solutions, including Roombr, TheMoe, HyperLab, FaceTagr, Mobisec, Helios Dynamic, Resecurity, Siddhi Engineers, SWASEMI, Viralhit, Zindagi Technologies, ScopX, QNu Labs, Tactilink, Tactix, BeyonData, and Phronetic AI. Senior police leadership, unit heads (cyber, CCTNS, traffic, training), investigators and DFIR teams, command-and-control operators, CAPFs, state home departments, procurement and modernization cells, start-ups, researchers, and academia focused on national security technology. ITANAGAR, NOV 5: The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) on Wednesday organized the State-level Para Sports Selection Trials and Competitions  at various venues across the Itanagar region, in preparation for the 2nd edition of the North East Para Games 2025, scheduled to be held from November 27 to 29 at Guwahati, Assam. The selection events were held in six para-sports disciplines including Para Athletics (Outdoor Stadium, Yupia), Para Badminton (Borum Badminton Hall), Para Boccia (Naharlagun), Para Chess (Itanagar), Para Swimming (Doimukh) and Para Table Tennis (Itanagar). A total of 78 para-athletes from different districts of Arunachal Pradesh participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. After the completion of the trials, 53 athletes were selected to represent the state at the upcoming North East Para Games 2025 in Guwahati. In the 1st edition of the North East Para Games, Arunachal Pradesh contingent achieved remarkable success by securing the second position in the overall medals tally among the North-Eastern states, bringing immense pride to the state.
