Forest officials commend youth-led conservation efforts in Ziro

ZIRO, SEP 26:

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests-cum-Head of Forest Force (PCCF-cum-HoFF) Santosh Kumar, and Additional PCCF Debendra Dalai, concluded a two-day visit to Ziro and the Hapoli Forest Division on Saturday, encouraging local conservation initiatives and youth participation in environmental protection.

During interactions with field teams and staff of the Hapoli Forest Division, the senior officers appreciated their efforts towards protecting the natural heritage of Lower Subansiri. Reminding the team that “Work is Worship”, they encouraged officers to continue serving the region’s forests and wildlife with dedication and sincerity.

As part of the visit, the officers visited Dani Kunya Government Higher Secondary School, where the Apatani Students’ Union is organising district-wide competitions in essay writing, poetry, drawing and environmental awareness. The activities are being held ahead of the inaugural Ziro Bird & Butterfly Festival 2026 at Pange in Tale Wildlife Sanctuary, being organised in conjunction with the 72nd Wildlife Week.

Addressing students, Kumar appreciated Hapoli DFO Tilling Taker for promoting initiatives that connect young people with nature. He urged students to remain curious, work hard and take pride in protecting the forests around them.

He emphasised that the well-being of local communities is closely linked to the health of forests and wildlife, and described the younger generation as important custodians of Ziro’s ecological future.

The visit highlighted the collaborative efforts of forest authorities, local youth and communities towards conservation and a sustainable future for Arunachal Pradesh. (DIPR)
