Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) has extended warm greetings to the people of the state, particularly the Adi community, on the auspicious occasion of Solung.
In his message, the Governor described Solung as a cherished expression of the Adi community’s socio-cultural and spiritual life. Celebrated since time immemorial with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm, the festival reflects the community’s deep faith and gratitude towards nature and the divine.
He said Solung reminds people of their inseparable bond with nature and the importance of living in harmony with it. The festival also preserves the wisdom, values and traditions inherited from ancestors while providing an opportunity to pass the cultural legacy to younger generations.
The Governor urged elders of the Adi community to guide the younger generation to understand, respect and practise their traditional values, ensuring that the rich cultural heritage remains vibrant and relevant.
“On this festive occasion, I join my Adi brethren in offering prayers to Kine Nane, Dadi Bote, Doying-Bote and all benevolent deities to bless humanity with peace, harmony, progress and prosperity,” he said.
He wished that Solung would strengthen cultural roots, foster unity among communities and inspire people to preserve their heritage for generations to come.
