Guv urges veterans to guide youth, contribute to nation-building

JAIPUR, NOV 1:

Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) attended the 12th Ex-Servicemen Reunion of the 2 Rajputana Rifles (Tololing) at Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Sunday.

The reunion brought together veterans and Veer Naris from across the country to commemorate the legacy of the Kargil War-famed regiment and reaffirm their commitment to the values of courage, discipline, honour and service to the nation.

Interacting with the veterans, the Governor said their experience, discipline, leadership and spirit of selfless service remained invaluable assets to society. He urged them to guide the younger generation, strengthen local communities and contribute to nation-building. He also emphasised that the values imbibed during military service should continue to inspire their conduct and contributions to society.

Parnaik stressed the need to ensure that all ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their family members receive the benefits and assistance due to them under various Central and State government welfare schemes. He called upon veterans to take collective responsibility for creating awareness about these initiatives and helping eligible beneficiaries access the available support.

He particularly emphasised that Veer Naris and children of fallen soldiers must receive due respect, care, encouragement and opportunities to lead dignified lives.

The Governor also urged the veterans to preserve the spirit of camaraderie, brotherhood and mutual support that defines the Rajputana Rifles, stating that the bonds forged during military service should remain strong throughout life.

The reunion is part of an initiative undertaken by Parnaik during his tenure as Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles, the Indian Army’s oldest rifle regiment. Such gatherings provide a platform to review welfare measures for ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families, assess their well-being and address issues requiring intervention.

The annual reunions are organised by ex-servicemen of the 2nd Battalion of Rajputana Rifles in collaboration with the battalion at different locations, including Delhi, Gwalior, Meerut and Bhiwani.
