NAHARLAGUN, SEP 14:

Naharlagun Police have cracked a knife-point snatching case reported under Naharlagun Police Station, arresting two alleged accused persons and recovering the weapon allegedly used in the offence, along with cash and the scooter reportedly used in the crime.

The incident was reported on September 12 when a 26-year-old man engaged in supplying chocolates, food items and other eatables was returning to Naharlagun after making deliveries.

According to the complaint, at around 12.04 pm, two unidentified persons riding a red-coloured Aprilia scooter allegedly intercepted him near the turn close to G-Sector Secondary School by blocking his scooter. One of them allegedly brandished a knife and placed it near the complainant’s stomach before snatching ₹10,000 from his pocket. The duo then fled the spot on the scooter.

Following the complaint, Naharlagun Police Station, under Inspector K Dev, registered Case No. 122/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.

Police subsequently identified and apprehended the alleged accused as Kabak Lapang, 19, son of Kabak Tapak, and Takam Dai, 26, son of Takam Tapik.

During the investigation, police recovered the knife allegedly used in the offence and approximately ₹4,500, suspected to be part of the proceeds of the crime. The scooter allegedly used in the incident was also traced and taken into police custody.

ICR Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Dr Nyelam Nega reaffirmed the police commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and taking swift and lawful action against those involved in street crimes and offences against the public.
