ITANAGAR : Expressing concern over recent public unrest, student demonstrations, and debates on faith and public policy, Longding-Pumao MLA Thangwang Wangham has issued an open letter appealing to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to preserve peace, mutual trust, and unity.

In his letter, Wangham urged citizens not to allow political, religious, or ideological differences to divide families and neighbours, emphasising that diversity across various tribes, languages, and faiths remains the state’s greatest strength.

Reflecting on recent events, including student protests, policy debates, and families struggling with floods and landslides, the lawmaker called on the public to consider the legacy being created for future generations.

“Democracy gives every citizen the right to speak, to question, and even to disagree. But democracy also asks something of us in return. It asks us to respect one another, to listen before we judge, and to remember that no difference of opinion is greater than our shared humanity,” Wangham wrote.

Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to raise their voices while being guided by responsibility and respect, while asking elders to continue sharing their wisdom.

He also reminded fellow public representatives that their constitutional oath is a promise to serve all citizens without fear or favour and to prioritize public welfare.

Cautioning against rumours, Wangham urged society to protect the historical harmony and trust built by past generations.
