NAMSAI, NOV 1:
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended the final of the Mananeeya Balakrishnanji Memorial State Level Volleyball Tournament 2026, organised by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas Arunachal Pradesh Trust at Kharsang on Saturday, paying tribute to the late A. Balakrishnan for his enduring contributions to education and social service in the State.
Remembering Balakrishnan as a visionary educationist and dedicated social worker, Mein said his efforts in establishing the first Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas in Arunachal Pradesh and extending education to remote communities reflected his commitment to selfless service and nation-building.
He also recalled Balakrishnan’s historic 21-day journey on foot from Roing to Anini in 1977, describing it as a remarkable testament to his determination to reach the unreached. His contributions to education and character-building, Mein said, continue to inspire generations.
The tournament brought together young volleyball players from across the State, providing them an opportunity to showcase their talent while promoting teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Mein appreciated the Trust, organisers, teachers and volunteers for carrying forward Balakrishnan’s vision through education and youth development.
Later, Mein attended the Vijayadashami Utsav organised by the Rashtra Sevika Samiti at Namsai to commemorate the organisation’s 90th anniversary. He acknowledged its longstanding contributions to women’s empowerment, leadership development, character-building and social service.
Founded by Lakshmibai Kelkar, popularly known as Mausiji, in 1936, the Samiti has worked to strengthen women’s participation in nation-building. Its foundational ideals of Matrutva, Kartrutva and Netrutva underline the role of women in shaping families, communities and society.
Observing that women have always been central to Arunachal Pradesh’s social and cultural fabric, Mein highlighted their contributions to preserving indigenous traditions and advancing agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, administration and public life.
Emphasising the vision of Viksit Arunachal and Viksit Bharat by 2047, he called for sustained efforts to expand opportunities for women in education, leadership and economic independence, enabling them to realise their full potential.
Mein congratulated the Rashtra Sevika Samiti on completing 90 years and appreciated the dedication of its Sevikas and office-bearers towards social service.
