LIKABALI : With the onset of the monsoon season, the Lower Siang district administration has issued a monsoon safety advisory urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard life and property during periods of heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions.

Issued through the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the advisory warns that heavy rain, strong winds, floods, landslides and other natural calamities may pose significant risks across the district during the monsoon months.

The administration has advised the public to avoid landslide-prone and vulnerable areas, refrain from entering rivers and streams during heavy rainfall, and ensure that natural drainage channels remain unobstructed. Residents have also been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather and refrain from extracting boulders, sand or other materials from riverbanks during the rainy season.

Citizens have been encouraged to maintain adequate emergency supplies, including food, drinking water, medicines, batteries and first-aid kits, to meet any unforeseen situation. The advisory further urges residents to follow official weather updates and information issued by government agencies and to avoid spreading or acting on unverified rumours.

The district administration has appealed to all residents to cooperate with authorities, remain alert and promptly report any emergency or disaster-related incident to the concerned authorities.

Reiterating its commitment to public safety, the administration called upon citizens to exercise caution and preparedness throughout the monsoon season to minimise risks and ensure timely response during emergencies.
