DAPORIJO : The Department of Civil Aviation, in coordination with the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and the district administration, successfully carried out emergency helicopter sorties to deliver essential food supplies to the flood-affected Giba and Nilling circles of Upper Subansiri district, where road connectivity has been severely disrupted by the monsoon.

The relief operation was undertaken under the guidance of the state government to mitigate the impact of the ongoing monsoon and ensure the timely supply of essential commodities to residents of the cut-off areas.

Using the state-leased Sky One Airways Mi-172 helicopter, the department airlifted a total of 60 quintals of rice in four sorties—two each to Lingdam in Giba Circle and Nilling Circle—on July 22 and 23. Each sortie carried approximately 15 quintals of rice.

The operation was carried out with the support of the District Food and Civil Supplies Officer (DFCSO) and the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), Daporijo, along with other stakeholders involved in the relief effort.

The Department of Civil Aviation reiterated its commitment to providing all possible assistance during emergencies and said it would continue to work in close coordination with the concerned departments and agencies to strengthen disaster response efforts and ensure timely support to affected communities across the state.
