RPC adopts guidelines on bandh calls and media conduct

RAGA, OCT 8:

The Raga Press Club (RPC), during its first Annual General Meeting held at Tossum Valley Resort, Kicho, on Thursday, discussed various aspects of media functioning and professional conduct.

The General Body resolved to follow the basic guidelines and norms of the Arunachal Press Club (APC), particularly in matters concerning the coverage of bandh calls and press conferences.

As per the resolution, RPC-affiliated media houses will follow the APC guidelines on bandh calls. Bandh-call announcements issued by organisations outside the Press Club will not be promoted or entertained by affiliated media houses, while matters of public interest may be reported objectively and in accordance with applicable media guidelines.

The meeting also resolved that live broadcasting of press conferences would generally be restricted, except in cases of genuine urgency or significant public interest.

The resolutions were adopted unanimously with the objective of maintaining professional standards, responsible reporting and uniform media practices among RPC-affiliated media houses.
