Tawang DLMC reviews schemes

TAWANG, OCT 22:

Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo on Thursday called for expediting ongoing development works in Tawang district, stressing the need for regular field inspections, quality assurance and better coordination among departments.

She was chairing the fifth District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC)-cum-District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for the financial year 2026–27 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Tawang.

The meeting reviewed the implementation and progress of Central Sector Schemes, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, State-funded schemes and other development programmes being implemented across the district.

The proceedings began with a welcome address by Assistant Commissioner-cum-District Planning Officer Nawang Thutan, followed by department-wise presentations by heads of offices and departmental representatives. Deputy Director of Rural Development Tenzin Jambey presented a consolidated report on rural development initiatives on behalf of the Block Development Officers.

The committee reviewed the progress of schemes and projects funded through the MLA Local Area Development Scheme (MLALADS), Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), untied funds and various Central and State programmes.

Initiatives supported by the North Eastern Council, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR), Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) and Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), among others, were also discussed.

The deliberations focused on the physical and financial progress of ongoing projects, departmental performance, implementation bottlenecks and measures to improve inter-departmental coordination for timely delivery of development and welfare schemes.

Addressing the officers, Angmo urged executing departments to make optimum use of the limited working period to accelerate development works without compromising quality. She directed officials to conduct regular site inspections and field visits to assess progress firsthand, monitor implementation and ensure compliance with prescribed quality standards.

The meeting also discussed other matters relating to the implementation of development programmes and the functioning of various departments. The district administration stressed timely execution, effective monitoring and accountability to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. (DIPR)
