Yoga quiz competition held

RONO HILLS : As part of the nationwide countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organised a Yoga Quiz Competition to promote awareness on yoga, health, hygiene, mental well-being and holistic living among members of the university community.

Held under the guidance of RGU Vice-Chancellor Prof S K Nayak, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, research scholars, teaching staff and non-teaching staff. Five teams competed in the event, showcasing their knowledge of yoga and wellness.

The quiz covered topics such as yoga asanas, pranayama, yoga postures, the history and philosophy of yoga, and general awareness on health and well-being.

After a closely contested competition, Team-I comprising Kalpana Sarkar and Tulika Lahon secured the first position. Team-II, represented by Mamata Sonowal and Monisha Ado, finished second, while Team-III comprising Olik Darang and Kali Boje secured the third position.

The winners will be felicitated with certificates and prizes during the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21.

The programme was conducted by Education Department Assistant Professor Dr Sushant Kumar Nayak, who served as Quiz Master, while Physical Education Assistant Director Dr A Yuvaraj coordinated the event. Rikpu Kamcham and Mumni Tayeng assisted as scorers.

The event witnessed active participation from the university community, reflecting RGU’s commitment to promoting yoga, physical fitness, mental wellness and a healthy lifestyle.

The Yoga Quiz Competition forms part of a series of activities being organised by the university in the lead-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga, which will be observed under the theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
