BJP organizes ‘Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ rally in Ziro

ZIRO, NOV 4:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Lower Subansiri district unit, on Wednesday organised a rally under the banner “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) at Hapoli, Ziro, to highlight democratic values and electoral integrity, while expressing support for the effective implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The programme was attended by BJP Arunachal Pradesh in-charge Devesh Kumar, MLAs Hage Appa, Puinyo Apum and Topin Ete, State BJP General Secretary Tadar Niglar, Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Development and Financial Corporation (APIDFC) Chairman Nani Lajie, State BJP Vice-Presidents Taying Shakuntala and Higam Loyi Ango, District BJP President Hage Kobin and other party leaders and office-bearers.

Addressing the gathering at Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium, Kumar described the SIR as a constitutional exercise aimed at ensuring accurate and transparent electoral rolls. He highlighted the need to verify voter details, identify duplicate and ineligible entries in accordance with established procedures, and ensure the inclusion of all eligible citizens.

“A strong democracy begins with an accurate voter list,” Kumar said, urging citizens to verify their electoral details and cooperate with election officials during the revision process.

The programme also featured a ‘Rashtra Chintan Samvad’, an interactive discussion with intellectuals and senior citizens on the implementation of SIR. The discussion covered electoral awareness, transparency, public participation and measures to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.

Kumar called upon people to participate in the “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” campaign and contribute towards strengthening democratic processes and nation-building.

MLAs Hage Appa and Topin Ete, along with other dignitaries, also addressed the gathering, highlighting democratic participation, responsible citizenship and the need for an inclusive electoral process.
