DAPORIJO, AUG 26:
The Upper Subansiri district administration conducted a Civil Defence blackout mock drill in Daporijo on Tuesday to strengthen disaster preparedness, emergency response and community coordination.
As part of the exercise, the district observed a complete blackout from 8 pm to 8:15 pm. The drill simulated air raid and bomb blast scenarios at two separate incident sites in Daporijo, with response teams carrying out evacuation, search and rescue, first aid, casualty management and other emergency response measures.
The public actively participated in the exercise by switching off emergency and inverter lights during the blackout, demonstrating community preparedness and cooperation during emergency situations.
Personnel from various line departments, police, Fire and Emergency Services, medical teams, Yuva Aapda Mitras, NCC cadets and other stakeholders participated in the drill.
The exercise helped assess the district’s preparedness, inter-agency coordination and the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Response Team (IRT).
