IMPHAL, SEP 12:

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly firing at CRPF personnel on duty in Manipur’s Imphal West district, police said on Saturday.

According to an official, a few armed men fired several rounds at CRPF personnel at Khonghampat Awang Leikai on Thursday evening.

A case was registered at the Sekmai police station, and an investigation was initiated.

One of the accused, identified as Sheleibam Yaima, was arrested on Friday, the official said, adding that the car used in the attack has been seized.

The arrested man has been remanded to police custody for eight days, and further investigation is underway, police said. (Source: PTI)
