TAWANG : Students of Dorjee Khandu Government College (DKGC), Tawang, on Tuesday presented their Innovation Challenge Proposals after successfully completing a month-long internship with various government departments, offering practical solutions to improve governance and public service delivery. The presentation programme, organised under the guidance of Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, provided a platform for the students to transform their field experiences into innovative ideas for addressing administrative challenges. Commending the participants, the DC praised their observations, analytical skills and innovative thinking. She said the initiative was designed to encourage students to identify governance challenges and propose practical, implementable solutions based on their internship experiences. Highlighting the importance of youth participation in governance, she announced that the best innovation proposals would be considered for implementation by the respective departments. She added that useful suggestions emerging from all five presentations would also be examined by the district administration for possible adoption. The DC encouraged students to cultivate a problem-solving mindset by critically analysing existing systems and proposing solutions that could make governance more efficient, transparent and citizen-centric. She appreciated the interns for identifying challenges such as infrastructure gaps, manpower shortages and connectivity issues, describing their observations as relevant and constructive As a mark of appreciation, the DC felicitated all participating students with certificates and traditional khadas in recognition of their contributions. Following the programme, she visited the under-construction college library building and reviewed the progress of infrastructure development on the campus. The initiative reflects the district administration’s commitment to encouraging youth-led innovation and fostering collaborative governance by involving young minds in the process of improving public service delivery and development planning. NOGLO : Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Noglo village in Tirap district under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (ARCAP), providing essential healthcare services to residents of the village and nearby remote areas. During the camp, medical officers conducted general health check-ups, offered consultations, treated common ailments, distributed essential medicines and created awareness on preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, sanitation and disease prevention. A total of 312 villagers benefited from the initiative by receiving free medical consultations, medicines and health awareness services, significantly improving access to primary healthcare in the remote area. The villagers and community leaders appreciated Assam Rifles for organising the camp and acknowledged its continued efforts to provide quality healthcare services and humanitarian assistance to people living in remote regions. Assam Rifles said such initiatives under the Civic Action Programme reaffirm its commitment to community welfare, expanding healthcare outreach and strengthening trust and goodwill with the local population.  

LIKABALI : The quarterly meeting of the District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) for the quarters ending March and June 2026 was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall here on Tuesday to review banking performance and the implementation of development schemes in Lower Siang district. The meeting, chaired by Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner Gobi Nyicyor, was attended by representatives of line departments, the State Bank of India (SBI), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other banks operating in the district. The committee reviewed the progress of banking and development-related activities, with emphasis on the implementation of government-sponsored schemes, credit flow, financial inclusion and strengthening coordination between banks and government departments. Issues relating to loan disbursement and recovery, banking services and challenges faced by beneficiaries were discussed. The participants also deliberated on measures to improve access to banking facilities and ensure the timely delivery of benefits under government welfare and development schemes. Addressing the meeting, DC Nyicyor emphasised the need for a healthy and mutually respectful relationship between banks and entrepreneurs to promote sustainable economic growth. He observed that beneficiaries should utilise loans responsibly and ensure timely repayment so that financial institutions could continue extending credit to other deserving beneficiaries and aspiring entrepreneurs. The DC also stressed the importance of close coordination between banks and line departments, expeditious disposal of pending cases and concerted efforts to strengthen financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and economic development in the district. During the meeting, NABARD Assistant General Manager distributed copies of the “NABARD in Arunachal Pradesh 2025-26” booklet, highlighting the institution’s initiatives and development interventions in the state. The meeting concluded with the participating departments and financial institutions reaffirming their commitment to improving coordination, strengthening banking services, promoting responsible credit management and ensuring the effective implementation of development and welfare schemes. BOMDILA : A coordination meeting to review preparations for the Civil Defence Blackout Mock Drill scheduled on August 8 was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall here on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar and focused on ensuring the smooth and effective conduct of the district-level exercise. During the meeting, the roles and responsibilities of all concerned stakeholders were discussed in detail, and necessary briefings were provided. Participants also shared suggestions and inputs to strengthen coordination and ensure the successful execution of the mock drill. Bomdila Superintendent of Police Dorjee Wangdi Thongon, Heads of Departments, representatives of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and other officials attended the meeting. West Kameng district is scheduled to conduct the Civil Defence Blackout Mock Drill on August 8 from 8 pm onwards. (DIPR)    

BOMDILA : A coordination meeting to review preparations for the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, the commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram, and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber here on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar, discussed arrangements for the nationwide observance scheduled from August 9 to 17. Briefing the participants, the DC outlined the activities planned across the district, including Tiranga Yatras, bike rallies, mass singing of Vande Mataram, essay competitions and other awareness programmes. He appealed to residents, Heads of Departments and the business community to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by hoisting the National Flag at their homes, offices and business establishments throughout the observance period. Participants also shared suggestions to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the campaign and the associated programmes. The meeting was attended by Bomdila Superintendent of Police Dorjee Wangdi Thongon, representatives of the 9 Gorkha Regiment and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Heads of Departments and other officials. ITANAGAR : The Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) administration has announced that a Civil Defence Mock Drill will be conducted on August 8 from 8 pm to 9 pm, with Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) serving as the main venue for the exercise. The drill will include a city-wide emergency preparedness exercise, during which an air raid siren will be sounded at 8 pm, followed by a 15-minute blackout across the Capital Region from 8 pm to 8:15 pm. In an advisory issued by Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner Toko Babu, residents have been requested to switch off all lights, remain indoors, avoid panic and extend full cooperation to the district administration and emergency response agencies during the exercise. The administration also informed that traffic restrictions and emergency response activities will be carried out as part of the drill. Members of the public have been advised to follow the directions of police personnel, Civil Defence volunteers and other officials deployed for the exercise. The district administration has appealed to print, electronic and digital media organisations to disseminate the advisory widely to enhance public awareness and preparedness while discouraging the spread of rumours or unverified information. The advisory has been issued in the interest of strengthening emergency preparedness and public response mechanisms in the Capital Region.
